  • Bringing a dog to the UK from Bogota, Colombia

    Dear Sir/Madam

I want to bring my 8 month old american cocker into London,UK from Bogota, Colombia in October 2015. She has had her Rabia results which are more than excellent and she also has her microchip. Is there anything else she needs before entering the UK? Any other advice or information as the UK is very strict with their guidelines?
Also is there an embargo from Bogota to London and if so, how and what do we have to do?
Why is there an embargo if so and when will it be lifted?

    Kind Regards

    Costa

Sol- to enter the UK from Colombia, your pup will need a current rabies vaccination administered after a microchip was implanted. No sooner than 30 days after the vaccination, your vet must administer a Blood Titer Test and you must wait 3 months before entering the UK. If you have done this, then the last things you must do are to have your veterinarian complete an Annex IV form for the UK within 10 days of travel and have a tapeworm treatment done between one and five days of entering the UK. YOu can find details and links to forms and instructions here if you need them: http://www.pettravel.com/immigration/UnitedKingdom.cfm. The airlines are embargoing the transport of pets in the cargo hold from places where the temperature goes higher than 85 degrees at anywhere along the route, including layover countries. The embargo will end mid-September, but if the temperatures are still high at that time, the embargo will stay in effect.
